Why should one engage themselves in community service and volunteer work ?

Let us understand what community service means ? Community service is when you work for free to help the public or a community, for example - Non Government and Non Profit Organizations. The culture of volunteering and community service has increased rapidly in the past decade. Individuals who want to bring a change in their societies come forward and contribute in different fields , like Ground service, content writing, graphic designing, fundraising etc. Not only is community service limited to a city or locality but, globally where individuals from different parts of the world are connecting and contributing to bring a change. Volunteering as a concept has gained immense popularity among the youth and young generation. They are looking forward to contribute. Most of the organizations are student led because they understand the crux of the problem and do every possible effort to correct it. The energy of the young blood and creative minds is being used the right way. One might think , why would someone want to work for free? What skills does one gain by volunteering work. THERE IS NO END TO THIS ANSWER. Starting with the first , Time management. Imagine , you have five projects in hand to complete within a deadline. Besides the projects , you also have school / college / office or household chores. You need to prioritize which task would you complete first. Volunteering work teaches you this important skill before you step out in the real world. Moving on , to leadership and communication skills. Being a leader in today's world is critical. Every one is running the same race, and you have to stand out by leading - projects or tasks. Leadership uplifts self esteem and confidence of an individual. Volunteer work gives a fair chance to everyone, to lead in their respective fields. While working with people of different age groups and races , one communicates and understands the mentality of an individual. One of the most important aspects of volunteering work is work ethic and professionalism. Most of the times , the people who volunteer do not have prior experience. While working in a group and solving problems together, a sense of professionalism is gained by all. Exchange of ideas and solutions also enhance an individual's creative thinking abilities.
